Kleinfelder is seeking a motivated, externally focused Area Sector Leader to drive business development initiatives within the Energy sector across Texas and Oklahoma. We are looking for an energetic and dynamic professional that possesses a business development background and has a strong understanding of the Energy market across the Red River Area (Texas and Oklahoma). The successful candidate will have the capability of growing lasting relationships and the ability to assess economic drivers, market conditions, and competitive landscape to leverage Kleinfelder’s capabilities and grow business with both an existing and potential client base. 

 

 GENERAL CAPABILITY:

  • Assess the Energy sector, including opportunities and risks, and then identify and execute a strategy to support the Red River Area penetration into the Energy market sector.
  • Identify target clients, regulatory and economically driven opportunities, and aid the Area leadership team, client account managers, and seller/doers to build a team capable positioning and winning projects.
  • Monitor that projects are executed successfully and with quality, leading to follow-on opportunities.
  • Define Kleinfelder’s position within the Energy market sector, establishing criteria for appropriate projects and pursuits, and identifying subject matter experts critical to success in the sector.
  • Competently manage business development and project management staff. Work independently or in conjunction with senior management/executive staff to win and execute work successfully.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the National and Central Division Energy Sector Leaders to achieve transformative growth in  the Energy Sector across the  Red River Area.
  • Meet or exceed the Red River Energy market plan objectives for Sales, Net Revenue, Cost of Sales, and Profitability.
  • Plan annual goals and budgets for Energy Sector activities to support achieving the overall Red River goals.
  • Analyze energy market drivers and identify unique new business opportunities for high growth and profitability.
  • Contribute to appropriate business planning efforts.
  • Identify and manage conferences and other OH expenses needed to accomplish goals.
  • Assist Area personnel to evaluate prospective clients and opportunities, reinforcing sound business decision-making.
  • Engage in specific sales efforts such as proposals, proposal reviews, and interviews for major pursuits.
  • Mentor specific seller/doers and client account managers in the sector to improve their BD skills and activities.
  • Manage client BD and delivery teams, as assigned.
  • Engage in the recruiting, mentorship, coaching and performance review of employees operating within the energy sector.
  • Engage in national and local organizations and conferences important to our clients and the Energy Sector.

EXPERIENCE & ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering / design, environmental, planning, or related / similar technical field preferred. 
  • 15+ years of relevant / related experience with 5+ years of marketing and/or sales in engineering consulting or related A/E/C service business and 5+ years of project management experience desired
  • Demonstrated progressive experience and success in acquiring and / or delivering multi-disciplinary projects.
  • 10+ years direct interaction with Texas / Oklahoma project stakeholders

  • Lead and participate in the vetting of new markets, clients, and project opportunities.
  • Effectively mentor and assist other business development and delivery team members to assess client needs and develop innovative / collaborative solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, proposal and business development software and ability to achieve fluency with CRM software systems.
