Kleinfelder's Geotechnical Services support the planning, engineering, and construction of complex projects, and our specialists are leading experts in their fields. 

 

Step into Your New Role 

Kleinfelder is seeking an Entry-Level Geotechnical Engineer with 0 to 3 years' experience to join us in our Cranberry Township, PA or Bridgeport, WV office.

We are looking for someone experience in, or the ability to readily learn, all basic components for the delivery of a geotechnical investigation including:

  • Organization and performance of the geotechnical field investigations,
  • Logging of geotechnical borings and test pits including soil and rock classification,
  • Assignment of the appropriate laboratory testing,
  • Performance of the associated engineering analyses under the guidance of a professional engineer,
  • Shallow/deep foundation design,
  • Slope stability,
  • Engineering analysis,
  • Geotechnical report preparation,
  • Working with design teams to incorporate geotechnical aspects into site designs, and
  • Monitoring and trouble-shooting Geotechnical issues during construction earthwork and foundation construction.  

 Skills required for this position include:

  • Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks,
  • Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • A thirst to learn and achieve continuous improvement in a team environment,
  • A can-do attitude and problem-solving mindset are essential,
  • An ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers, supervisors, clients, subcontractors and regulators, and 
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, Including Word, Excel, and Power Point.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • BS in Geological/Civil Engineering
  • EIT is preferred (or the ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Experience with gINT, LPILE, SlopeW and/or CAD software is a plus.
  • Ability to travel overnight (up to 50 percent of time) for drilling and construction observation assignments.
