Kleinfelder is looking for a growth-oriented Project Manager to grow our Energy team in Houston, TX.  

 

This experienced professional will foster relationships with Energy sector clients and teaming partners, work closely with our local operations throughout the Central Division geography, and will lead the development of client-centric delivery teams that will position us for extraordinary growth into the future. The Project Manager will have excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to lead and inspire a team. 

 

ROLE OVERVIEW 

The successful candidate will be able to: 

  • In coordination with key Kleinfelder stakeholders, interface regularly with targeted clients in Houston (and other select locations as appropriate) to identify new opportunities. 
  • Identify and seize opportunity for proposals/additional work; collaborate with business development team to grow the business.  
  • Understand the clients" business needs and develop innovative value-added solutions and cost-effective recommendations to exceed the clients" needs. 
  • Coordinate project delivery and proposal teams with clear and succinct communication as to the client requirements and differentiation strategies. 
  • Support the business development activities of Kleinfelder (both U.S. and Canada) by assisting in the development of / enhancements to Kleinfelder business development strategy; research and assist in determination of qualified target areas, projects, and clients as required. 
  • Proactively network with clients, teaming partners and industry partners to understand the market trends, needs and future opportunities that creates ROI. 
  • Maintain awareness of industry economic information and project development information such as interconnection applications within targeted geographic regions. 
  • Partner with stakeholders in proposal writing, marketing presentations, and organization of internal resources for assigned prospects. 
  • Work well in a matrixed work environment, interacting with business development and operations teams, and maintaining close communications with the client to represent their needs effectively. 
  • Effectively work with our operations teams to ensure engineering scopes of work (pen to paper) are consistent with the client requirements and expectations and coordinate appropriate pricing in response to identified opportunities and official requests for proposals.  
  • Coordinate with business development / operations group on proposals and presentations.  
  • Presentation and visits to client locations, etc. may be required. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Follows Kleinfelder policies and procedures. 
  • Effectively uses Kleinfelder workflows and processes to secure project resources, complete proposals, develop contracts, maintain project records, monitor project, bill clients, collect fees, and perform close outs and lessons learned. 
  • Regularly update project management and services processes, standards, specifications, and procedures, and ensure that there is continued improvement in project delivery. 
  • Lead the project management and project engineering efforts to execute assigned small to medium sized projects varying in scope and complexity, plan project resources to ensure efficient and cost-effective execution adhering to budget and schedule constraints. 
  • Partner with discipline leads and other stakeholders as required to ensure efficient project execution. 
  • Accountable for implementation of Kleinfelder project management and services processes on projects executed. 
  • Provide strong leadership and mentoring to the project team. 
  • Lead client communication with respect to assigned projects and assigned clients.  
  • Lead and provide guidance to members of the engineering team including designers/draftspersons, engineers, and technicians. 
  • Champion and develop specific deliverables such as work scopes, project design criteria, design basis documents, technical documents, cost estimates, schedules, and other project related documents. 
  • Review and approve engineering drawings and engineering work packages. 
  • Assist the client with front end project development, as required, to define the project scope for team execution. 
  • Report engineering and project progress against planned project budget and schedule. 
  • Provide continuous review of quality of project work. 
  • Ensure close out of projects and completion of project KPIs. 
  • Chair team project meetings and client meetings.  
  • Completion of other relevant duties as required. 

 

EXPERIENCE & ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor's degree in, Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering. 
  • Registration as a PE (Professional Engineer) in the US is required. 
  • Minimum of 8-12 years of relevant experience in the Oil and Gas industry particularly with midstream companies; previous EPCM experience is desired.  
  • The project work will be multi-disciplinary in nature, but experience in transmission pipeline and facilities infrastructure is preferred.  
  • 5+ years of multi-disciplinary project management experience.PMP Certification is an asset. 
  • Experience in managing multiple clients and projects. 
  • Experience with drafting proposals/quotes/bids. 
  • Extensive experience in effective and efficient Project Management procedures.  
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite programs used to create reports and documents.

POSITION CONDITIONS  

Job is performed in an office or remote environment; occasional travel may be required to client facilities outside the Houston area and to coordinate with our engineering team in Alberta, Canada.
