The Field Service Technician performs various functions during a day to fulfill the services of troubleshooting, repairs, replacement, new installation and/or integration work on water and wastewater treatment systems.

 

The job description below are the kind of tasks, duties, and responsibilities needed to be performed by a field service technician:

 

  • Provide service and customer support during installations, repair, management, and maintenance visits.
  • Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations
  • Build positive relationships with customers
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports
  • Provide detailed technical services to all company sold, rented, &/or maintained equipment. 
    • Repair services
    • System Start-up & commissioning
    • Troubleshooting & diagnosis
    • Training services
  • Respond to external and internal technical inquiries in a prompt and professional manner and demonstrate technical expertise in those interactions.
  • Keep informed on industry news and trends, products, services, competitors, relevant information about legacy, existing, and emerging technologies, and the latest product-line developments. 
  • Basic maintenance and plumbing skills are a must

 

Requirements - Abilities, Knowledge, and Skills - for the Field Service Technician Role

 

To be a Field Service Technician, you will need to meet the following requirements, which are set by the Service Manager:

 

  • Needs to be a self-starter, goal driven and hold the ability to work well with others.
  • Good and effective communication skills
  • Good analytical and organizational abilities are of great importance
  • Possess good leadership ability, as well as ability to work as part of a team or even lead a team when called upon
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications (permits, equipment specs, etc.)
  • Ability to be proactive and to foresee events and react appropriately towards them
  • The ability to multitask and strategize in different situations is also relevant
  • Ability to work and carry out projects within a stipulated time frame or deadline
  • Knowledge in wastewater/water treatment, some mechanical, or electrical is required
  • Consistently arriving to work prepared to perform duties with a focus on operational excellence
  • Be neat and accurate, with good attention to details
  • Desire to learn and grow in a new career
