Kleinfelder is seeking a professional to join our growing Ohio engineering team.  The ideal candidates will participate in and contribute to a diverse range of engineering projects and services in our team-oriented environment.  The Civil Site Department Manager will provide direction and expertise on  Land Development, and other engineering projects.  The candidate will provide training and mentorship to the junior engineering staff.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing technical solutions for a wide range of projects through the application of engineering knowledge and skills to support permitting and compliance needs for a diverse client base.  


As a Civil Site Department Manager, your responsibilities would include overseeing and coordinating the activities of the civil engineering department. This involves managing projects, ensuring adherence to regulations, supervising staff, and collaborating with other departments. Strong leadership, project management, and technical skills are essential for success in this role.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Duties include the creation of designs, reports and calculations on site development projects with no supervision and guidance. This position will supervise the technical execution of projects including pipeline construction, environmental permitting, solar site design, and site modeling and grading. The successful candidate will interact with PMs, senior operations and technical staff and provide training for entry level professionals.
  • Technical expertise in Civil Engineering design including utility, grading/earthwork, drainage, erosion and sedimentation control, infrastructure design, selection, sizing and placement of equipment, constructability evaluations, SWM and SWPP calculations and reports.
  • Engages and directs other specialized technical staff to work on appropriate facets, stewarding the process, setting priorities and levels of effort, and distilling the combined effort to a cohesive conclusion.
  • Demonstrates and leads effective and convincing communication of technical information in internal and external meetings and presentations. Is a regional or companywide technical resource. 
  • Mentors junior staff on problem solving approaches, developing the big picture understanding.
  • Performs and executes technical calculations without supervision.  Reviews and supervises
    calculations performed by others to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Applies the most current technologies/methodologies in field of expertise.
  • Assess risks and manage the risk appropriately for both Kleinfelder and our clients.
  • Lead the efforts support the project management team on various business development efforts including preparation of proposals and client interaction for all technical aspects.
  • Strong leadership, project management and technical skills are essential for this role.

 

Position Requirements:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution or acceptable equivalent.  Master's preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in civil engineering, stormwater management systems and erosion control design.
  • Knowledge and experience using AutoCAD is required with Civil 3D expertise preferred.   
  • Professional Engineering license required.
