From earthquake and seismic engineering to the latest trenchless technology methods, Kleinfelder's Geotechnical Services support the planning, engineering, and construction of complex projects, and our specialists are leading experts in their fields.

 

Step Into Your New Role 

Kleinfelder is seeking experienced Engineers / Geologist with a minimum of 6 years' experience related to geotechnical engineering or geology, soil logging and testing, cutoff wall construction design and observation, levee inspection, foundation design, geotechnical type analysis, technical report preparation, and/or construction testing and observation to be based in any of our Northern CA offices.

 

***We are offering a minimum $10,000 sign on bonus for this role!***

 

The ideal candidate must have previous experience working on one or more of the following types of disciplines: geotechnical engineering, geology, construction, or civil engineering.  However, we are open to provide training for the right candidate.

 

Ideal candidates will possess strong communication and writing skills and technical background in engineering/geologic projects. Experience in the following areas is desired:

 

  • Perform specific engineering or scientific work on client projects
  • Prepare complex plans, reports, specifications, analyses, and calculations
  • Coordinate or supervise assigned staff
  • Work independently, using knowledge of industry and/or professional guidelines and protocols to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Solve problems of moderate scope
  • Independently evaluate, select, and recommend techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform technical tasks, field tasks, studies and analysis
  • Develop and maintain client relationships
  • Have experience with performing and executing technical calculations
  • Review and supervise calculations performed by others
  • Demonstrate understanding and commitment to risk assessment and Health and Safety planning 
  • Have experience guiding staff geologists or engineers in performing material and site characterization, seepage, slope stability, settlement analyses, etc.
  • Have experience supporting project managers in budget management, client updates, and general project management tasks
  • Have experience preparing and presenting technical presentations to clients and technical review boards
  • Have experience supervising field observation, testing, and performing site visits
  • Be able to proactively troubleshoot and problem-solve with practical, client-focused solutions
  • Be able to organize priorities and multi-task effectively
  • Possess a thirst to learn and achieve continuous improvement in a team environment

 

Requirements

  • Registered Professional Geologist (PG) or Engineer (PE). 
  • 6+ years of related experience in consulting engineering firm or related service business and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations required; or 4 years related experience with a Master's or 2 years related experience with PhD.
  • Other Knowledge and Skills:  Applies the most current technologies/methodologies in field of expertise; possesses excellent communication skills.
  • California registered PE or PG
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training (a plus but not required)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and writing skills are required for this task.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Physical ability to be in the field, carry equipment, perform testing and sampling for multiple hours or multiple days in a row.
  • Microsoft Suite
  • GeoStudio (SEEP/W, SLOPE/W) (a plus but not required)
  • Ensoft (APILE, LPILE, SHAFT) (a plus but not required)

 

Must be willing to travel within the state of California

 

Education:

BS degree in civil engineering or geology.

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law.  Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $68,216 - $113,714.
