Century Engineering, a Kleinfelder company, is currently looking for a Survey Instrument Person to perform a variety of tasks associated with land surveying and civil engineering in our Newark, DE office. Applicant must be able to work as a member of a survey crew performing boundary, topographic, right-of way, transportation, and construction surveys.

 

Responsibilities

  • Will work primarily in the field on control, boundary, topographic, and construction stakeout surveys
  • Perform mathematical calculations
  • Willing and able to continually learn new techniques and processes as well as operate various types of equipment to become more efficient
  • Assist other survey crews, if necessary
  • Occasionally work with other disciplines as needed
  • Frequently travel to various worksites

 

Position Qualifications:

  • 3 months to 2 years of experience in civil and transportation related surveying is preferred
  • In lieu of experience, college level courses in surveying will be considered
  • A high school diploma, or equivalent, is required
  • Ability to work effectively with other technical professionals
  • Ability to write legibly and convey technical information as well as the ability to effectively present information, communicate, and respond to questions from groups of co-workers, clients, and the public
  • Valid driver's license with demonstrated safe driving practices
  • The ability to obtain background clearances to permit working on-site for certain clients is required
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
  • Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rugged, rural or urban surroundings
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk long distances
  • Required to stand for long periods of time and/or walk long distances
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • The ability to work outside, in all types of weather, is a requirement
