Step into Your New Role

The GTS Area of Kleinfelder is looking for a Pipeline Engineer to join our Los Angeles, CA office. The Pipeline Engineer develops and applies broad knowledge and skills in various natural gas workstreams, independently evaluates, selects and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform pipeline projects. Projects range in size and complexity from small to large, including both distribution and transmission type projects.   The Pipeline Engineer acquires general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields and can function as a member or Lead of multidisciplinary teams.

 

Consideration for an Engineer position requires the following certifications or experience: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering
  • 3-6 years relevant experience
  • Engineer-In-Training Certification (Desired)
  • Working knowledge of CAD and GIS software (Desired)
  • Technical communication
  • Proficient use of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint
  • Utility business understanding (Desired)
  • Valid Driver's license
     
     

As a Pipeline Engineer with Kleinfelder, you will be expected to:

  • Prepare pipeline designs, including calculations, drawings, profiles, details, layouts, and studies from field inspections, preliminary sketches, specifications, and instructions requiring knowledge of engineering practices and shop and field procedures
  • Prepare pipeline facility designs, including 
  • Review designs and documentation to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and design criteria
  • Acquire and analyze data using appropriate standard quantitative methods
  • Gas system network and hydraulic analysis
  • Construction specification and bid package preparation
  • Pipeline design and material selection
  • Alternative/Feasibility studies
  • Develop status reports with task completion, progress, challenges, and solutions
  • Work closely with other workgroups at our clients' place of business and Kleinfelder offices
  • Coordinate various inspection and testing methods, gather data, analyze, and report findings
  • Coordinate and project management of internal resources and subcontractors
  • Demonstrate sound engineering judgment
  • Assign tasks to and coordinate with drafting and administrative staff
  • Assign tasks to and coordinate work of Associate Engineers and technicians or administrative staff within team
  • Provide guidance, instruction, and coaching to entry-level and other Engineers 
  • Assist in determining schedule & budget requirements
  • Support business development and marketing initiatives

Benefits:  Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law.  Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $50,081 - $83,486.
