Century Engineering is seeking a motivated and well-organized Construction Manager for our open position in Anne Arundel County. This role will support the County's Infrastructure Management Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing various roadway and roadway-related infrastructure construction projects throughout the County while providing oversight and direction to the Construction/Inspection Team.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Perform program management tasks to investigate, evaluate and coordinate roadway maintenance, resurfacing and reconstruction projects based on field evaluations within the County's right of way
  • Manage multiple tasks while prioritizing deadlines
  • Plan, coordinate and oversee project implementation
  • Assure compliance with construction documents and state/federal rules and regulations
  • Review construction-related documentation, including contractors' pay applications and change order requests
  • Plan, coordinate and conduct project meetings
  • Regularly drive to project sites to complete tasks or attend meetings
 
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years of experience in construction project administration in Public Works and/or Highway industry
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience in personnel management
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills, either in-person, via telephone and via email. This includes experience dealing with all levels of customers, such as private citizens, community leaders and elected officials
  • Strong computer skills, including e-mail and formal correspondence as well as good electronic file management practices
  • Capable of exercising a certain degree of independent thought and judgement on construction field issues
  • Expertise in managing multiple priorities while coordinating multiple simultaneous capital projects
  • Ability to provide regular reporting on project-level accomplishments and performance metrics
  • Knowledge of practices for preventative maintenance and reconstruction of HMA Pavements Examples include slurry seal, crack seal, micro-surfacing, and chip-seal and full-depth HMA reconstruction.
  • Understanding of ADA construction policies and procedures as it relates to the highway industry for curb ramps, sidewalks, and pedestrian crossings
  • Attainment of certifications, such as MARTCP, Work Zone Traffic Control, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) a plus
  • Experience in the implementation of Traffic Control Plans and Temporary Traffic control standards. Certification in Temporary Traffic Control a plus
  • Valid driver's license with demonstrated safe driving practices
  • Local residency or able to relocate at your own expense

  • Specific vision requirement: Visual acuity required to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., labor, materials, weather, etc.) or to make general observations of work being performed on facilities, structures or roadways
Benefits:Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays.The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Equal Pay Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $93,496-$161,990.
