Step into Your New Role

The GTS area within Kleinfelder is looking for Electrical Engineers to join our team. Under supervision and with latitude for independent action and decision, the Electrical Engineer will perform responsible engineering work on a professional level in design or analysis of engineering jobs, projects, or parts thereof. The Electrical Engineer may be required to perform activities such as performing asset investigation, electrical design, cost estimating, field measurements, preparation and correction of field drawings, preparing operating and maintenance instructions, data analysis, compilation and reporting of technical data and performance of other related duties for overhead and underground electric power transmission and distribution projects.

 

Consideration for an Engineer position requires the following certifications or experience: 

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering 
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with electric distribution systems including layout, conductor sizing, transformer selection, and meter selection
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and controls design for remote control, feedback and automation (Preferred)
  • Utility Business Understanding (Preferred)
  • Engineer-In-Training Certification (Required)
  • Professional Engineer License (Required, or ability to obtain)
  • Working knowledge of CAD and GIS software (Desired)
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NED), electrical power transmission and distribution systems (Desired)
  • Technical Communication
  • Proficient use of MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint

 

As an Engineer with Kleinfelder, you will be expected to:

  • Review designs and documentation to ensure compliance with codes, standards and design criteria.
  • Prepare designs, calculations, schematics, layouts, and studies from field inspections, preliminary sketches, specifications, and instructions requiring knowledge of engineering practices and shop and field procedures.
  • Develop asset data integrity strategy, including processes for data capture and validation.
  • Perform asset investigation. Create electric components list and capture required asset information.
  • Acquire and analyze data using appropriate standard quantitative methods.
  • Construction Specification and Bid Package Preparation.
  • Provide technical guidance to team members on Electrical Engineering test methods.
  • Develop status reports with task completion, progress, challenges and solutions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams on design and value engineering input, in preparation for permitting and interconnection.
  • Leverage cost and performance knowledge to inform early-stage design decisions and equipment selection.
  • Perform detailed engineering designs and technical reviews of low voltage distribution, high voltage transmission, and PV solar design packages.
  • Perform detailed engineering designs for electric distribution systems including layout, conductor sizing, transformer selection and meter selection.
  • Perform calculations including electric loads, pole loading, voltage drop, voltage rise, flicker, and pulling tension.

Benefits:  Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law.  Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $57,908 - 96,594.
