Job Responsibilities:
• Perform Traffic engineering tasks through application of relevant design criteria, standards and processes in order to develop traffic control device recommendations
• Assist with project budgets, prepare technical proposals and overall management of projects
• Review designs performed by others for the purpose of Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC)
• Apply the principles in the DE Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) as well as interpret and apply applicable federal, state and/or local standards and processes
• Develop support information and applicable deliverables
Position Requirements:
• BS from ABET accredited engineering program
• Professional Engineering License (PE)
• A minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in the traffic engineering field
• Perform field investigations to determine existing conditions.
• Design all aspects of traffic engineering projects, including computer applications, quantity and cost estimate calculations and overall plan preparation.
• Assist in man-hour estimating.
• Draft technical specifications.
• Interpret and apply all applicable federal, state and/or local codes.
• Complete projects ranging from moderate to high complexity.
• Manage small to moderate multi-disciplinary type projects.
• Coordinate work with other disciplines.
• Exercise a wide degree of independent thought and judgment.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer Registration (PTOE)
• Experience working on DOT and Private projects
