Century Engineering, Inc. (A Kleinfelder Company) is seeking a Traffic Data Collection Technician for our Dover, DE office for work assignments in Delaware.  

 Responsibilities:
  • Collect and organize digital photographs; create sketches and condition diagrams; and document field information/observations associated with traffic data collection locations
  • Deploy traffic data collection equipment, including cameras, at intersections and other roadside locations
  • Perform vehicle turning movement counts at intersections (manually or via video) including collecting data on vehicle classification, and bicycle and pedestrian movements
  • Install pneumatic road tubes across the roadway to count traffic, classify vehicles, or measure traffic speeds
  • Perform general observations of traffic flow and other activities/conditions that influence traffic operations, under the direction of a Traffic Engineer
 
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Roadway Safety training (if none, this will be provided)
  • Familiarity with roadway safety measures desired
  • Strong electronics and computer skills for configuring and trouble-shooting equipment installation a plus!
  • Familiarity with/use of traffic count/data collection equipment and/or tablet systems
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans for structures, bridges and roadways and understand construction specifications, engineering tables and reference materials
  • Good organizational skills
  • Basic math skills, including ability to measure and record linear dimensions
  • Must be able to read, write, comprehend and speak English fluently
  • Attendance, punctuality and reliability are essential requirements
  • Must possess current/valid State Driver's License and reliable transportation
 
Physical Demands:
  • Candidates should be physically able to handle some heavy lifting.  Fieldwork requires bending and lifting 10- 50 lbs., as well as operating hand and power tools.
