Job Description

We are seeking an Environmental Business Development Manager to join our Texas / Oklahoma Environmental team. The ideal candidate will thrive as a vital part of a talented, resourceful and collaborative environmental team that interfaces regularly with our teams in Texas and Oklahoma. This position is based in Houston, Texas.

 

The primary function will be to lead our Environmental team to identify, position, propose, and win targeted business pursuits with existing and new Clients, ultimately catalyzing continued diversification and growth of the practice. The candidate will nurture and grow client relationships and assist in the successful delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary projects in the Industrial / Oil & Gas markets.

 

The candidate must have strong history of client account management.  Candidate will be expected to provide project and client leadership and direction to project teams. Candidates must possess excellent organizational, communication and technical writing skills. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead major proposal efforts, develop client/project capture plans. Participate in project scoping activities and proposal presentations.
  • Build strong relationships and interact regularly with key clients, teaming partners and stakeholders linked to the market.
  • Continuously interact with clients assuring satisfaction with Company services and work closely with project delivery personnel to ensure any service issues are identified and addressed in a proactive manner.
  • Engage in industry groups and actively participate in committees and/or Board governance.
  • Mentor staff and grow the team and work portfolio.
  • Reinforce collaboration and team building, ensure client focus, demonstrate commitment to excellence and innovation, and motivate others to ensure positive morale and engagement.
  • Provide input on business development priorities, budget and expenditures.
  • Negotiate favorable contract terms and conditions and achieve cost of sales, gross margin, backlog, and other related financial and business goals.
  • Support the identification and mitigation of risks and commercial terms during the project lifecycle.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of related high-level client management experience, 15+ years of total professional and project management experience in consulting engineering firm or related service.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven business development and project management experience  with consulting firms.
  • Business acumen related to project management, portfolio financials and risk management.
  • Understanding of sales pipeline management and hard and soft backlog growth.
