Are you driven to lead, grow, shape, and excel? Kleinfelder is seeking an Air Quality Group Leader to join our greater Environmental Services Team in downtown Denver.
Our Colorado Environmental Services Team is comprised of two sub-teams: Air Quality and Environmental Planning & Permitting. As a cohesive team, the Colorado Environmental Services Team supports an interesting mix of clients and markets. With 31 staff on this team, our work ranges from supporting development of renewable energy projects across the country, completing site selection due diligence and dispersion modeling for data centers, conducting ecological field studies, and advising oil and gas clients on highly technical aspects of air quality permitting. We function with a high degree of trust and commitment to each other and our clients.

This candidate will foster relationships with clients, work closely with local operations, and lead and grow client-centric delivery teams that will position us for extraordinary growth in the years to come. This candidate will support project management, technical execution/review, team leadership/supervision, and strategic client and business development for public and private sector clients in Colorado and the surrounding states. As part of our larger Environmental Services Group, the Air Quality Group Leader will work in our team-oriented environment, collaborating and communicating effectively, exercising project authority, and mentoring project team members, while work independently to accomplish goals and objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Air Quality Group Leader will be highly motivated and may support a variety of air quality permitting and compliance projects for oil and gas clients. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in at least three of the following areas: Title V permitting; air quality permitting in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and/or Texas; compliance auditing; Colorado Emissions Inventory and Air Toxics Reporting; dispersion modeling; greenhouse gas reporting; and NSPS (Subpart OOOOa and OOOOb) and NESHAP compliance and reporting. The selected candidate will:
- Have a strong desire to provide enthusiastic leadership to shape and expand our existing team of 12 air quality professionals by identifying training and mentorship needs within the team and executing Professional Development Plans to meet those needs; developing new business with new and existing clients in the oil and gas market and other sectors; and delivering high-quality and technically sound project deliverables.
- Exemplify professionalism within Kleinfelder and in all dealings with clients.
- Develop client engagement plans, proposals, and cost estimates to capture new work.
- Be committed to a high standard of quality assurance/control through review of project deliverables.
- Be a skilled Project Manager that is able to self-direct to complete Kleinfelder’s internal Project Management Qualification program within the first year of employment.
- Provide technical expertise to clients with regard to air quality permitting and compliance and serve as an internal air quality point of contact throughout Kleinfelder.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Have ability to come into our downtown Denver office at least 2x/week.

EXPERIENCE & ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 12 years of related air quality experience with 5+ years of staff management experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of air quality consulting project management experience and proven responsibility with scope/schedule/budget.
- Minimum of 5 years direct client engagement experience.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local air quality regulatory agency laws, regulations, and permitting requirements.
- Experience in the oil and gas, power, and industrial markets is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in Engineering, Environmental Science, or other related field.
- Advanced computer skills with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Professional License (e.g., PE) or Certification (PMP) is not required but preferred.

- Staying current with relevant regulations and technology.
POSITION CONDITIONS
- This position is performed in a hybrid office environment. Occasional trips to the “field” are required, involving driving to clients’ facilities, often up to three hours away.
- Candidate must pass a medical surveillance that includes drug screening.
- Some night and weekend work may be required for this position.
- Personal vehicle use for travel to/from project site is expected.

Benefits: Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $104,000-174,000p/y. We will be accepting applications through March 18, 2025 (90 days since posting date).
