The primary focus of this position will be on writing, with the opportunity to have all new content shared internally and externally, while also providing support for other communications-related tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the growth of the Kleinfelder brand by developing PR campaigns tailored to specific service lines, geographic regions, or industry sectors (requires understanding upcoming significant opportunities that Areas/Divisions will pursue, as well as markets and/or service lines with the most growth potential).
- Partner with Kleinfelder leaders and SMEs to write, proofread, and place articles via external communication channels (i.e. social media, website, industry publications/events, etc.).
- Review publication and media outlets’ editorial calendars to pitch story ideas and thought leadership pieces.
- Identify target media outlets, including trade publications, business journals, and mainstream news outlets.
- Track and measure placement metrics based on investment and/or objectives.
- Build and maintain media contact lists.
- Write and distribute press releases (utilizing a newswire service for priority releases).
Long-Term Objectives
- Coordinate media and client relations for events such as open houses and webinars (this could include but is not limited to email campaigns to reach target audiences).
- Create a PR strategy to secure recognition for Kleinfelder in national award programs.
- Leverage podcast opportunities by placing Kleinfelder experts as guests on established podcasts with relevant audiences (in lieu of a Kleinfelder-hosted podcast).
- Develop relationships with journalists and editors.
- Develop partnerships and pitch content through influencers.
Organization and Detail Management
- Deadline Adherence: Exhibit strong organizational skills and attention to detail while managing multiple assignments under set deadlines.
- Flexibility in Priorities: Adapt to changing needs or timelines, ensuring clear visibility of progress.
- Proactive Task Management: Take ownership of tasks and action items, ensuring follow-through and accountability.
Collaborative Mindset
- Technical Collaboration: Work closely with Kleinfelder professionals to foster accurate representation of Kleinfelder’s market/services and/or growth opportunities.
- Warm Engagement: Build rapport with stakeholders to create a comfortable atmosphere, enhancing the quality and authenticity of the final deliverable.
- Active Participation: Bring creative ideas to brainstorming sessions and actively engage in team meetings to foster a collaborative environment that supports collective learning and growth.
Physical Requirements
- Travel and Flexible Hours: Willingness to travel <10% of time, if needed, and adapt to flexible hours as required by project needs.
Qualifications and Program Proficiencies
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, communications, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years of relevant AEC industry experience is with a primary focus on content development and PR/brand elevation is preferred.
- Portfolio: A portfolio showing examples of written communications is required. Please provide 1-3 professional references.
- Required Program Proficiencies: Microsoft Suite (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams).
- Other Advantageous Program Proficiencies: Adobe Creative Cloud (i.e. InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects).

Benefits
Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $68,600-$126,500.
