Kleinfelder Construction Services (KCS) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Construction Manager to join our growing team in the greater Sacramento and San Francisco Bay Area. Position Overview

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in water/wastewater systems, stormwater, flood control, pipelines, and infrastructure projects such as pump stations, pressure and gravity pipelines, and mechanical/electrical systems. This role encompasses project supervision, inspection management, constructability reviews during design, and client collaboration. Experience with municipal, governmental, and private clients is essential.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Collaboration: Serve as the primary interface with clients, oversight representatives, and regulatory agencies.
  • Construction Oversight: Direct construction management activities, including contract administration, scheduling reviews, change order management, cost control, and quality assurance.
  • Risk Management: Ensure compliance with project standards, policies, and procedures while proactively managing risks to meet project objectives.
  • Technical Expertise: Conduct constructability reviews, estimate project costs, and provide engineering guidance during design phases.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise inspectors and resident engineers, fostering a productive and collaborative work environment.
  • Documentation: Prepare daily reports, calculate quantities, and develop monthly payment estimates.
  • Industry Networking: Attend professional events to stay abreast of industry trends and maintain relationships with stakeholders.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • 6+ years of experience in construction management, engineering, or inspection.
    • Proven expertise in municipal water/wastewater projects and infrastructure construction.
    • Familiarity with alternative delivery methods (e.g., CM-at-risk, design-build, design-bid-build).
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of construction practices, union agreements, APWA Greenbook, WAS, and AWWA standards.
    • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam Revu.
    • Preferred: Experience in public works construction inspection (traffic control, paving, grading, etc.).
  • Education and Certifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical), construction management, or a related field.
    • CCM or Professional Engineering certification is highly desirable.

Benefits: Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law.  Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $128,871 to $186,000.
