Step Into Your New Role
 

As a Project Manager / Technical Civil and Coastal Leader with experience in the planning, design and construction of community improvement and coastal hardening projects to be part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team in our Portland, ME office. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on community improvement and coastal hardening projects and mentor our team of engineers, architects and other professionals. Candidates should have a minimum of 20 plus years’ experience in municipal and coastal projects and a strong desire for learning and sharing knowledge. This candidate will work with a team of professionals with varied planning, engineering and architecture backgrounds who collaborate to deliver a wide range of projects for high-priority clients in New England on dynamic building, site, and infrastructure projects. 

 

Responsibilities will include: 

  • Manage all phases of project execution including project organization, subconsultants management, scheduling, financial management, health and safety stewardship, and reporting. 
  • Mentor and engage with staff 
  • Lead and participate in technical, cost, and scheduling decisions for interdisciplinary teams ensuring company quality standards and driving client value 
  • Oversee projects technically with all aspects of transportation design from conceptual and preliminary engineering to final design 
  • Collaborate and manage with architects, structural/bridge, environmental, geotechnical, survey, traffic professionals, and other designers to complete project deliverables 
  • Lead and participate in technical, cost, and scheduling decisions for interdisciplinary teams ensuring company quality standards and driving customer value 
  • Oversee pursuits, designate the appropriate resources to projects, define client needs, address client concerns, and manage engineering resources within budget 
  • Develop market strategies, along with other company leaders, to grow a coastal resiliency practice 

 

To be successful in this role, you will need:   

 

  • Project experience in leading multi-disciplinary design, permitting and/or construction projects in municipal and coastal settings 
  • Management experience highly advantageous 
  • Ability to assess and resolve issues and conflicts internally and externally. 
  • Follow internal quality control and risk management protocols such as peer reviews 
  • Work well managing virtual teams and willingly works with the appropriate resources regardless of location 
  • Work with national in-house technical leaders to support the growth in cutting edge innovation, learning, work sharing and resourcing 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Landscape Architecture 
  • 20+ years’ experience in the planning, design and preparation of construction contract documents for municipal and coastal projects 
  • A passion to meet client objectives and goals, technical challenges, and mentoring other professionals 
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Landscape Architect (RLA) 
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills  
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment
