ROLE OVERVIEW

 

Kleinfelder is excited to accept applicants for an Intermediate Project Engineer. This Individual will provide project engineering support and leadership to the entire project team, ensuring that technical excellence, cost, schedule, quality, and contractual requirements are achieved. This individual will report to the Project Services Manager and be supported by other senior members of the team.

EXPERIENCE & ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred.  Other disciplines will be considered with the right experience. 
  • 2+ years of Engineering experience in an oil and gas or related industry.
  • Previous EPCM experience is a must.
  • Professional Engineering designation with APEGA is a must, PMP certification is an asset.
  • US PE registration would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with gas transmission and distribution projects would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in performing project engineering and Chemical or Mechanical engineering roles on a suite of small projects would be considered an asset.
  • Recent experience in executing multi-disciplinary small to medium size projects.
  • Experience working closely with various stakeholders including clients, project management, and other technical disciplines.
  • Familiar with relevant codes and standards (ASME, API).
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite programs used to create reports and documents, as well as MS Teams and Bluebeam.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading the project engineering effort to execute small to medium sized projects varying in scope and complexity.
  • Creation of specific deliverables such as work scopes, project design criteria, design basis documents, technical documents, cost estimates, schedules, and other project related documents.
  • Assisting in the creation of other project documents such as project logs, requests for information/clarifications, etc.
  • Reviewing and providing input to the design team related to technical drawings.
  • Efficiently managing time and resources in accordance with the project plan.
  • Host and play an active role within internal team and client/stakeholder meetings.
  • Reporting on engineering and project progress against budget and schedule.
  • Travel to field for project scoping, verification, construction support, and meetings with clients.
  • Assist client account managers with business development duties as required.
  • Performing calculations and developing material take-offs and cost estimates including stamping and issuing drawings within your professional discipline, if required.
  • Conducting equipment specification, sizing, and engineering calculations for system design as required.
  • Interpreting and applying design codes into Process and Mechanical drawings (ASME, ANSI, API, CSA).
  • Reviewing vendor drawings and documents for compliance.
  • Provide technical support to field staff as required with respect to safety, quality and client expectations.
  • Ensuring close out of projects and completion of project KPIs.

  • Job is performed in a hybrid work from home and office environment; occasional travel may be required.
