Step into Your New Role 

 

As a Structural Department Manager, you will be responsible for developing technical solutions for a wide range of projects through the application of engineering knowledge and skills to support permitting and compliance needs for a diverse client base.

 

This position is available in our Toledo, OH and Columbus, OH offices.  Will consider some form of hybrid option for this position.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of the structural engineering department in accordance with company policies.
  • Optimize staff scheduling by matching individual expertise to project needs, achieving project deadlines, maximizing department efficiency, and fostering a culture of safety and quality.
  • Assist in preparing scope and fee proposals for the structural portion of projects.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams such as site-civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
  • Provide oversite of analysis and design of structural systems, preparation of contract drawings and specifications, and support during procurement and construction of projects.
  • Mentor the technical development of staff to encourage professional growth.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) License registered in Ohio or ability to obtain within one year of start date.
  • 10 years of demonstratable design experience in the structural engineering field including experience in engineering, analysis, and drafting of water/wastewater treatment facilities, and industrial facilities.
  • 3-4 years of project management experience.
  • Proven ability to design and detail complex structures.
  • Experience in the design of steel, concrete, timber, cold-formed steel, and masonry.
  • Knowledge of structural finite element analysis (FEA) engineering applications such as RISA 3D, RISA Floor, and RISA Foundation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and work independently.
  • Willingness to travel to local project sites.
  • Valid driver’s license with demonstrated safe driving practices.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in civil engineering.
  • Proficient with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Experience using other FEA programs such as RISA Connection, L-Pile. SAP2000, ETABS, and RAM.
  • Proven ability to conduct structural inspections and condition assessments.
  • Competent in working at heights using ladders and fall protection.
