Kleinfelder is seeking a Special Inspector, that is willing to travel extensively, to join our team.

 

We provide construction inspection and material testing services to a broad range of local and national clients. We are looking for individuals who are interested in joining a dynamic team and building their career in the field of construction inspection and materials testing.

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Special Inspector to join our team. This role requires extensive travel and involves evaluating structures, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and identifying potential maintenance needs. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of safety regulations related to fuel station operations.

 

Location: Based out of Houston, Austin, Killeen, Dallas, TX, Oklahoma City, or Tulsa, OK

Type: Full-Time | Extensive Travel Required

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform field testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and masonry materials.
  • Accurately document and report test results and prepare daily reports on observation activities.
  • Review observation and test data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Follow proper safety protocols and company procedures.
  • Interface with clients and project teams professionally on job site to ensure client specifications are followed.

 

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in construction, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum two years of experience in construction materials testing.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively while traveling.
  • Excellent plan reading skills.
  • Excellent observational and problem-solving skills, high attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to work long hours, nights, and weekends as required.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, 90-100% of the time.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in varying outdoor conditions.

Preferred Certifications (one or more):

  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I (Required)
  • ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector
  • ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector
  • ICC Soils Special Inspector
  • State DOT Certifications
  • NICET Certifications (Materials Testing)
  • Nuclear Gauge / Radiation Safety Certification (Required)
