Step into Your New Role

Kleinfelder is seeking an Environmental Planner to join our Northern California and Pacific team. This position is a great opportunity to join Kleinfelder's growing environmental operations. We are looking for the right person to join our team help support our Environmental Planning & Permitting group, and support clients throughout California, as needed.  This position will work closely with our archaeologists, biologists, and project managers to provide senior subject matter expertise and support while growing and mentoring junior staff.  

 

Job Responsibilities: 

Technical Excellence

  • Serve as subject matter expert and support with mentoring, training, and growing our CEQA/NEPA team
  • Advise/direct/manage preparation of CEQA documentation (e.g., Initial Studies, Mitigated Negative Declarations, Notice of Preparation/ Environmental Impact Reports). 
  • Provide quality assurance/quality control of project documents with a focus on environmental planning and compliance, with client and regulatory agency processes, procedures, and policies and regulations.
  • Provide expert advice in the preparation and submittal of application packages to local agencies.
  • Ensure deliverables conform to client standards and expectations, comply with all applicable permits, licenses, and right-of-way or easement conditions.

Minimum Qualifications of an Ideal Candidate:

  • 20+ years of experience managing and preparing legally defensive environmental documents in accordance with CEQA and NEPA
  • BS/BA Environmental Science, Law, Planning, Policy, or other related degree in a technical area related to the CEQA threshold categories (Master's degree and/or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification a plus)
  • Extensive working knowledge of California and federal environmental regulations (e.g., CEQA, NEPA, ESA, CWA, NHPA, etc.)
  • Lead and oversee technical reviews to ensure sound, legally defensible CEQA/NEPA documents. 
  • Strong professional speaking skills and confidence working in a collaborative and communicative team
  • Ability to maintain client and team relationships.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols

Benefits: Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Hourly range: $57.32 - 88.95.
