Kleinfelder’s Pittsburgh, PA office is hiring an Energy Project Manager to provide project management and design engineering support services to a growing list of clients across many markets. The candidate’s project focus will primarily be in the Mining, Power, and Utility business sectors.

 

The Energy Project Manager is an essential role in growing Kleinfelder’s civil services in the mining, power, and utility markets regionally and across the country. The candidate will be expected to take on a leadership / mentorship role within the team. Expectations include coordinating with other engineers and scientists, project managers, and clients on projects throughout the northeast.

 

Desired leadership skills and technical experience for this position include:

  • Manage all phases of project execution including project organization, subcontractor management, scheduling, financial management, health and safety stewardship, and reporting.
  • Oversee pursuits, designate the appropriate resources to projects, define client needs, address client concerns, and manage engineering resources within budget.
  • Lead and participate in technical, cost, and scheduling decisions for interdisciplinary teams ensuring company quality standards and driving customer value.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external teams and collaborate on a program of design and construction management projects striving for continuous improvement in process development and execution.
  • Nurture and grow client relationships and contracts that include complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Lead, grow, supervise, and mentor staff – supporting the achievement of professional career goals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative and team-approach mentality.

Candidates should have 8+ years of experience in Project Management with an Engineering focus as follows:

  • Experience demonstrating the ability to manage multi-disciplinary Engineering projects and engage a team of junior and mid-level civil engineers.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, clients and teams to deliver successful projects meeting client and Kleinfelder expectations for delivery including safety, quality, scope, schedule and budget.
  • Periodic site visits (travel is anticipated primarily within the PA, MD, OH and WV areas) is required throughout construction activities to address problems and develop solutions real-time.
  • The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate leadership, project management, and strong client relationships through project-focused examples.
  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline (Civil is preferred).

Preferred skill / qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) is preferred
  • Project Management Credentials such as the PMP.
  • Microsoft Project and schedule / project controls experience.
