As a Certified General Appraiser, you will work with our Right-of-Way team to assess real estate acquisitions to ensure transactions are fair and compliant with regulatory standards. This position is available in our Pittsburgh, PA, Trevose, PA or Mechanicsburg, PA office with an opportunity to work a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct onsite inspections of properties to gather relevant information.
  • Analyze market data, comparable assets, and documentation to form accurate valuations.
  • Prepare detailed reports outlining appraisal methodologies, conclusions, and certifications.
  • Communicate valuation findings clearly to clients, lenders, insures, and attorneys.
  • Ensure all work complies with USPAP and state/federal standards.
  • Stay current on industry trends, zoning laws, and market conditions that impact value.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • Certified General Appraiser license (required) and USPAP certification (preferred).
  • MAI (Member, Appraisal Institute) or ASA (Accredited Senior Appraiser) designation.
  • A minimum of 8 years of appraisal experience within the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Familiarity with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and ITQ list.
  • Knowledge of GIS and CAD tools for land or structure-based appraisals.
  • Proficiency in zoning, land use, and environmental considerations.
  • Experience with specialized property types (e.g. commercial real estate).
  • Experience with litigation support or eminent domain cases.
  • High-level problem solving and quantitative analysis.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Argus and CoStar.
