Take Your Delivery Management Career to the Next Level

Do you have a passion for managing budgets, meeting deadlines, and exceeding client expectations? Our delivery management professionals are involved in project delivery from initiation and planning to execution, monitoring, and closeout. Each phase requires strong attention to detail while communicating to internal and external stakeholders. Do you have a proven track record in managing goals and objectives? Consider joining our team and work with peers who have vast industry knowledge and experience solving complex problems.

Step Into Your Next Role

Kleinfelder’s Southern California Area is seeking a Project Controls Supervisor to join our growing team! In this role, you will lead and mentor a project controls team while providing exceptional support across a diverse portfolio of projects.

The Project Controls Supervisor plays a key role in supporting project budgets, schedules, and reporting activities. You will collaborate closely with our project teams to develop, organize, and manage project data—including fee estimates, earned value analysis, cost and status reports, backlog projections, and resource planning.

Key Responsibilities

As a Project Controls Supervisor, you will:

  • Supervise and develop the project controls team, providing clear direction, leading team meetings, assigning workloads, and identifying opportunities for growth and training.
  • Partner with Project Managers, Program Managers, and Senior Project Control Specialists to execute project controls processes and systems from proposal through closeout.
  • Support Project Managers in developing Project Management Plans and other project-related documentation.
  • Assist in the creation of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), schedules, earned value metrics, and additional project management tools.
  • Provide intermediate planning and scheduling support, including baseline development, resource allocation, and progress tracking.
  • Implement and oversee project controls to proactively monitor and communicate budget performance, forecast costs, labor hours, and quantities. Develop timely cost reports, prepare cost analyses, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Prepare earned-value reports, including trend analyses and earned-value curves.
  • Assist with cost proposal development in both Kleinfelder and client-required formats.
  • Support Project Managers with contract compliance, invoice management, document control, client coordination, and interaction with AR Collections Specialists.
  • Lead preparation and maintenance of periodic project status reports to keep internal teams and clients informed of progress.
  • Coordinate with Kleinfelder’s contract department to initiate and manage Prime/Sub agreements, Certificates of Insurance, subcontractor task orders, and Master Service Agreements.
  • Implement and maintain project document structures—including QA/QC labor compliance, logical tiering, and organization of hard copy, electronic, and SharePoint files—in partnership with the administrative team.
  • Apply working knowledge of California Prevailing Wage requirements, including compliance, certified payroll reporting, and coordination with project teams to ensure accurate labor classification and documentation

Experience & Education Requirements

Education:

  • Associate degree in Finance, Business, Project Management, or a related field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience, including project and accounting experience.
