From environmental planning, permitting, remediation, and site characterization to chemical data management and hydrogeology, Kleinfelder offers a variety of services designed to provide technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions.  

 

Step into your new role:

 

Kleinfelder is seeking a Geologist or Environmental Scientist to join our Site Assessment and Remediation (SAR) Team to support project efforts across the mid-Atlantic area. This position is available in our Hanover, MD office.

 

The selected candidate will be capable of working both as an integral team member and at times independently, using knowledge of industry and/or professional guidelines and protocols to accomplish goals and objectives and solve problems of diverse scope. Kleinfelder provides training for all new tasks.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Phase I ESAs.
  • Phase II ESA field efforts and reporting, including:
    • groundwater sampling.
    • soil vapor sampling.
    • collection and logging of soil samples.
    • oversight of monitoring well installation.
    • waste management.
    • Remediation support, including:
    • O&M of remediation systems (established mechanical aptitude highly desired).
    • performing calculations.
    • Analyzing and interpreting analytical data.
    • Supporting development of technical reports.

Requirements:

  • BS degree in geology or environmental science.
  • 4+ years of related experience in consulting engineering firms or related service business and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations required.
  • Soil and/or ground water sample collection experience.
  • Experience with various contaminants including chlorinated compounds, petroleum compounds, PCBs, PFAS compounds, and metals. 
  • Experience with Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC).
  • A demonstrated ability to follow direction and work independently, as well as, in a team environment and a positive professional attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Possess excellent organization and multi-tasking skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Experience/Certifications:

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
  • AHERA certification and hazardous building materials experience.

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the Maryland Wage Transparency Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $71,076 per year to $100,000 per year.
