Step into Your New Role

Kleinfelder Construction Services is seeking an experienced Office Engineer to join our growing CM team for current and future transportation and/or public works projects.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Writing construction change orders and preparing associated backup, including independent cost estimates and memoranda.
  • Logging, reviewing, tracking, and responding to RFIs and submittals.
  • Preparing project correspondence, including response letters to the Contractor and other project stakeholders.
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly quantity sheets (Q-sheets) to accompany the progress estimate.
  • Attending meetings and preparing agendas and meeting minutes.
  • Reviewing progress schedules.
  • Preparing and maintaining project records (monthly estimates, weekly project status reports).
  • Performing constructability reviews of transportation projects.

 

Required Skills and Abilities: 

  • Minimum of four years of experience in office engineering or roadway construction inspection of highways or major public works projects.
  • At least 10 years of post-12th grade curriculum in engineering or surveying.
  • Experience in writing Caltrans contract change orders.
  • Knowledge of Caltrans standard plans, specifications, procedures, and Construction Manual.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

 

Qualifications: 

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (preferred).
  • EIT or Registered Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California (a plus).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Proactive and personable attitude with a strong ability to learn quickly.
  • Capable of working effectively in a team environment.

Benefits: Kleinfelder offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, including: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and paid holidays. The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law.  Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: $107,302-$155,923.
