Step into Your New Role

Kleinfelder is looking for highly motivated and experienced Client Account Manager to join our fantastic team in Ohio. We are excited to present a challenging opportunity for an experienced and energetic person to help shape Kleinfelder’s future. This candidate will foster relationships with clients and will assist in the development of client-centric delivery teams that will position us for extraordinary growth in the years to come. Primary focus will be on senior level client engagement, overall market leadership, and development of cross selling services to key client accounts. This role is available in our offices in Perrysburg or Dublin, Ohio.

 

The selected candidate will work in our team-oriented environment, primarily providing business/client development by developing and leading Strategic Growth Plan for our partners in Ohio. He or she will leverage his/her understanding of regional engineering and construction markets to support business growth initiatives. He or she will focus on expanding and diversifying Kleinfelder’s operation by: introducing new clients and opportunities, cross-selling new services to existing Clients, and providing business development leadership. This is an excellent growth opportunity for an individual with an established network of Clients, looking to take a very reputable operation to the next level.

 

Specific expectations will include:

  • Comprehensive market experience (delivering projects that improve local infrastructure, schools, healthcare facilities, and commercial developments across Ohio and the region) sustained through existing client relationships
  • Knowledge of market areas such as understanding the regulatory requirements, project development processes, funding initiatives and overall sales and marketing approach.
  • Teambuilding skills that are supported by strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Client account management skills and proposal preparation experience.
  • Optimizes our customers’ resources and conceptualizes cost-effective, resilient, and sustainable life-cycle solutions. Understands our clients’ business and develops innovative solutions and sound recommendations to meet their needs. 
  • Identifies and develops project opportunities for new work and/or expanded services for new and established clients.
  • Identifies opportunities and takes action to build relationships between one's area and other areas, teams, departments, units, or organizations to help achieve business goals; shares information and solicits feedback.
  • Handles customer questions and complaints, communicates with customers, handles service problems politely and efficiently, always available for customers, follows procedures to solve customer problems, understands company products and services, maintains pleasant and professional image.
  • Recognizes problems and responds, systematically gathers information, sorts through complex issues, seeks input from others, addresses root cause of issues, makes timely decisions, can make difficult decisions, uses consensus when possible, and communicates decisions to others.
  • Knows the organization’s mission and functions, and how its social, political and technological systems work and operate effectively within them; this includes the programs, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the organization.
  • Develops proposal strategies that utilize Company’s strengths and innovative thinking to gain a competitive advantage.  

Job responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients in providing engineering and professional consulting services.
  • Providing inspirational, business, market and professional development leadership.
  • Collaborating and connecting with KLF internal resources including Department Managers and Market Leads to plan, coordinate, and execute business development efforts aligned with specific market sectors, client needs, and geographic priorities. Ensures our Team is fully knowledgeable and equipped to sell full-service consulting services from surveying through design and construction with proven program management.
  • Providing team oriented, “fit for purpose” solutions to meet our clients’ expectations.
  • Assessing risks and managing the risk appropriately for both Kleinfelder and our clients.
  • The ability to work well in a matrixed environment, interacting with both business development and operations teams, as well as maintaining close communications with the client to represent their needs effectively. 
  • Develop and implement effective capture programs by forming and leading strategies and capture teams, leveraging established client relationships, identifying upcoming opportunities, and preparing comprehensive capture plans for large, complex pursuits.
  • Lead and support major proposal and interview efforts for high-value, strategic opportunities, working closely with technical teams, marketing, and leadership to position the firm for success.
  • Track, manage, and report on active pursuits and opportunities, maintaining accurate status updates and supporting data-driven forecasting and decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science, Engineering, or related technical field. Master’s degree or equivalent desired.
  • 9-10 years of related experience. 6-7 years of direct client interaction in designated market and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations required. 5-6 years of management experience required.
  • Professional Engineer License a plus.  
  • Travel 50-60% (primarily day trips)

Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.
